An AI art exhibition is turning two iconic 320-meter towers at Shanghai's Zhangjiang AI Innopark into an urban canvas. Fourteen teams from around the world used AI to create light displays. The show reflects a mission to connect companies, research, applications and everyday life through shared innovation.

Official statistics show that since early 2026, Zhangjiang AI Innopark has added more than 400 technology companies, bringing its total to over 1,200. Meanwhile its revenue topped 100 billion yuan ($14.97 billion) in 2025.

Rather than simply clustering firms, Zhangjiang AI Innopark links businesses across the AI supply chain, from chips and algorithms to large language models, industrial applications and smart devices.

Companies in the same building often become upstream and downstream partners. Jidou Auto, Zhipu AI and China UnionPay, for example, launched what they called the world's first in-cabin payment agent in just three months.

Quantum computing company TuringQ chose the town to tap Zhangjiang's talent and innovation resources and connect quantum computing with AI, developing applications for sectors such as finance, biomedicine and advanced manufacturing.

Innovation extends into public life. Zhangjiang AI Innopark's AI Matrix Store showcases more than 500 products and attracts over 1,000 visitors a day. Its streets serve as testing grounds for drone delivery, autonomous security vehicles and unmanned cleaning boats. By Sept 27, more than 500 tech salons had drawn nearly 100,000 participants from over 13,000 companies.

The town hosts more than 600 AI companies focused on vertical applications and over 30,000 AI professionals. It aims to exceed 1,000 AI companies and reach an industry scale above 100 billion yuan by 2030.
