Shanghai recently unveiled plans to designate the National Base for International Cultural Trade, which is located within the bonded area, as a municipal cultural and creative industrial park from 2023 to 2025.

Operated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the base aims to enhance cultural trade by offering comprehensive support services to cultural enterprises. Since gaining the title of National Copyright Trade Base in 2014, the base has participated in numerous significant cultural brand projects.

The Shanghai Base has fostered a joint construction cooperative mechanism between various ministries and local municipalities since its inception. In collaboration with these entities, the base has introduced the "6+365" annual exhibition and trade platform at the Shanghai CIIE (China International Import Expo), which caters to the diverse needs of participating enterprises and institutions.

To date, the base has successfully attracted 963 cultural industry enterprises, and secured a total investment of over 57 billion yuan ($8.26 billion) and generated an annual cultural trade volume of 18.9 billion yuan. This development highlights the cultural industry's crucial role in meeting the diverse spiritual and cultural needs of individuals, promoting Chinese culture globally, enhancing cultural soft power, and fostering economic growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

To further support cultural enterprises, the bonded area plans to implement more liberal policies, strengthen "full-cycle" services, and create a "full-element" ecosystem in the cultural industry. This comprehensive approach ensures that cultural companies receive the necessary assistance to expand their global businesses and contribute to China's ongoing growth and cultural influence.
