The high-quality economic development conference in Shanghai's World Expo area kicked off on April 12.

At present, the World Expo area has become one of the areas with the largest number of central enterprises in Shanghai. A total of 28 central enterprises have registered 106 companies of different industries, among which 18 Global Fortune 500 enterprises have made investment in the World Expo area.

The area has also attracted 29 regional headquarters of multinational corporations to settle here, including those from nine Fortune 500 foreign companies. At the same time, 15 well-known international economic organizations have settled in the New Bund of the area.

The World Expo area has initially formed four characteristic industrial clusters of international trade in commodities, "dual carbon" industries, industrial finance, and biopharmaceutical industries. Among them, international trade in bulk commodities has begun to take shape, generating 600 billion yuan ($87 billion) in total revenue last year. By 2030, it is expected that a globally influential cluster for international trade in commodities will be established.

The area boasts a 9.5-kilometer shoreline along Huangpu River, and it plans to build a 22 kilometer "World Expo Water Ring", with green spaces accounting for 37 percent of it. At present, a total of 123 high-quality commercial buildings have either been built or under construction in the area, covering a total area of approximately 6.5 million square meters, of which about 3.9 million square meters have been completed. Seventy percent of the commercial buildings in the World Expo Park meet the three-star standard for green buildings.
