The 8th Pudong headquarters economy top 10 model enterprises release event kicked off on Nov 28 at the Shanghai Center. During the event, 15 new enterprises were added to the more than 1,000 headquarters enterprises in the area, showing that Pudong has acquired an international reputation as being a headquarters economy highland.

With 111 headquarters enterprises established during the previous seven years, Pudong New Area has increased the importance of the headquarters economy, and has demonstrated its accomplishments in scientific and technological innovation, resource distribution, and economic contributions provided by the development of the headquarters economy and 15 new enterprises being established this year.

In recent years, high-level research and development centers, global business departments and multinational corporations from the Asia-Pacific region have flocked to Pudong. Among the 24 multinational corporations' regional headquarters newly located in Pudong, six are considered high-level. Currently, there are 72 high-level headquarters and 269 research and development centers in Pudong.

At the same time, many multinational corporations based in Pudong are trying to coordinate domestic and foreign resources for innovation and are comprehensively localizing innovative development. Shanghai Siemens Medical Equipment Co, which served as the foundation for Siemens Healthineers, has emerged as a role model for advancing localization by focusing on how to create and accomplish innovation locally.
