Mapping a path for reform in Shanghai's planning
Shanghai set to become pilot region for dual circulation
Shanghai will lead the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region to become a pilot area featuring the new development paradigm of having the domestic market as the mainstay and the domestic and international markets reinforcing each other, according to Shanghai's proposal for its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and development goals for 2035 released on Thursday.
Tapping into the spill-on effect of the China International Import Expo and the influence of the Hongqiao International Open Hub, Shanghai is set to lead the delta region to become the country's distribution center of import and export commodities, the proposal stated.
Collaboration in technology innovation within the region will also be enhanced based on the development of the National Technology Innovation Center at the Yangtze River Delta Region and the G60 Science and Innovation Corridor, among others.
The proposal also suggested building a more integrated market system at the delta region that allows various market elements to flow smoothly.
The Yangtze River Delta demonstration zone on integrated development will also continue to experiment with policy innovations to promote the further integration of the delta region, according to the proposal.
