Pudong is building an open robotics ecosystem connecting developers with suppliers, technologies, and real-world applications, helping embodied intelligence move towards large-scale deployment.
"Zhangjiang offers such a rich industry chain, from software algorithms to hardware, that robots can be assembled without leaving the area," said Jia Xuefeng, founder of Huihua Intelligence. Its desktop companion robot Xiaobai was recognized as a key achievement of Pudong's AI industry at this year's World Artificial Intelligence Conference.
In 2025, Pudong's AI industry generated 198.2 billion yuan ($29.4 billion) in output among enterprises classified as above designated size, with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan. The area is home to nearly 1,800 AI companies, more than 800 vertical model firms, and over 150 embodied intelligence companies, which have developed more than 30 humanoid robot products.
Robots are increasingly present in everyday life. More than 300 robots by AgiBot operated at over 100 interactive experience points at Chimelong Spaceship in Hengqin during the National Day holiday. Huihua Intelligence's companion robots have reached 565 communities across 185 cities, with a monthly active usage rate of 92 percent.
With pilot production services operational and a mass-production base under construction, Zhangjiang Robot Valley is strengthening its role in robotics innovation and commercialization. A planned "robot avenue" will showcase applications and interactive experiences, connecting developers with the resources needed to bring robots to broader use.
