The 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will take place from Oct 17 to Nov 15, with the opening and closing ceremonies slated to be held at the Shanghai Grand Opera House in Pudong New Area.

The opening performance, Shanghai Grand Opera House and Friends, will bring together leading conductors Zhang Guoyong, Yu Long and Xu Zhong, as well as singers Liao Changyong, Shi Yijie and Yan Weiwen, for a program featuring Chinese and international opera classics on Oct 17. American Ballet Theatre's Swan Lake will close the festival at the opera house on Nov 15.

In total, the event will feature nearly 400 programs, comprising almost 1,100 performances, exhibitions, and other activities. Nearly 90 percent of the 60 productions in the festival's "Global Art" program will make their Shanghai debuts, including 13 projects presented exclusively in Shanghai or China.

Beyond the stage, the festival will bring more than 80 performances to public spaces, while 6,500 discounted tickets will help make them more accessible to the general public. Performances will also extend to Jiangsu and Anhui, bringing the festival to audiences beyond Shanghai.
