Atlas Copco Group has registered its first fully integrated local entity dedicated to the vacuum market in China, located in Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone. This marks the company's first independent localized market entity for its vacuum business in China and represents a new step in expanding full-chain operations.

The move also marks Atlas Copco's first effort to integrate research adaptation, production, assembly, sales, and services for its vacuum business in China. The company plans to open a local factory and research center in 2026.

As a global industrial technology leader, Atlas Copco operates in compressors, vacuum solutions, industrial technologies, and power techniques. Its products serve customers across more than 180 countries and regions, including semiconductor and manufacturing industries.

China has become one of the group's most important strategic markets. Amid supply chain restructuring and rising demand for operational resilience, multinational industrial companies increasingly see localized operations as essential.

The entity will serve as the core platform for Atlas Copco's localized vacuum operations in China. It will integrate acquired resources, coordinate vacuum trading activities, and expand its presence across the semiconductor vacuum equipment value chain.

The company will customize and adapt products for Chinese customers based on technologies from the group. Compared with similar imported products, localized offerings are expected to reduce costs by double-digit percentages while shortening delivery times.

Waigaoqiao Bonded Area has already attracted leading vacuum technology companies and suppliers, forming a complete industrial ecosystem. Local authorities said they will continue to improve business services and support high-end manufacturing and innovation-driven investment projects.
