Since its establishment in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in 1999, ZEISS has evolved from a trading entity into the Greater China management headquarters. By capitalizing on the benefits of the bonded zone, including streamlined customs clearance and comprehensive international-standard business services, ZEISS has successfully enhanced its operational capabilities and scaled its functions in a step-by-step manner.

The company's five-year strategy emphasizes AI-enabled digital transformation and the application of data intelligence in products and operations, supporting more efficient, smarter and greener manufacturing development in China through continuous technological upgrading.

Waigaoqiao continues to attract multinational companies upgrading regional headquarters or establishing new functions, supported by bonded policies, port-zone integration and distribution facilitation, forming a highly efficient and integrated industrial ecosystem for global enterprises.

The ZEISS Greater China Headquarters Complex covers over 50,000 square meters and integrates R&D, management and high-end manufacturing functions. It will strengthen cooperation with local universities and research institutes, further enhancing Pudong's role as a global innovation hub.
