Leveraging the technological strengths of leading industry players and the hospital's clinical resources, the base will establish a full-cycle pipeline spanning technology R&D, clinical validation, and product optimization. It aims to accelerate the translation of BCI technologies from laboratory research to clinical applications.
The hospital signed cooperation agreements with AciMicro Medical and four other BCI companies, as well as Shanghai Waigaoqiao Biomedical Industry Development Co Ltd, covering sectors including invasive and non-invasive interfaces, neuromodulation, and visual neuroscience.
BCI technology has become a focal point of global technological competition. Shanghai has taken the lead in rolling out an industry development plan, aiming to advance the clinical application of semi-invasive products by 2027 and build a global hub for BCI innovation by 2030.
Pudong is home to more than 3,900 biomedical innovation entities and is accelerating its lead in frontier fields such as BCI and medical robotics. The launch of the base will further leverage Pudong's combined strengths in institutional innovation, industrial clustering, and clinical resources.
