First China-built large cruise ship hits milestone as second rises in Pudong
Adora Cruises marked a major milestone on Feb 8 as Adora Magic City, the first China-built large cruise ship, welcomed its one-millionth guest, while a second vessel is taking shape at Waigaoqiao Shipyard in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.
Since its commercial debut on Jan 1, 2024, the Adora Magic City has completed 180 voyages and served around 670,000 guests, accounting for nearly 70 percent of Adora Cruises' total passengers.

Construction of Adora Flora City, China's second domestically built large cruise ship, is progressing rapidly at Waigaoqiao Shipyard. The project is more than 91 percent complete, with the construction cycle shortened by nearly eight months compared with the first vessel. Featuring larger spaces and more advanced technology, the new ship is expected to support a wider range of themed spaces.

The Waigaoqiao area's cruise-centered industrial cluster is showing increasing synergy across the supply chain. With Waigaoqiao Shipyard as the core, the area has attracted a cluster of cruise manufacturing enterprises, focusing on sectors such as final assembly and production support to capture spillover benefits from leading companies.
