German semiconductor integrated device manufacturer Infineon recently launched its Distribution Center (China) Customization project in Shanghai's Pudong Airport Free Trade Zone.

The upgraded project, with a construction area of 43,000 square meters, is positioned as one of Infineon's three global logistics hubs and is currently the company's largest finished product distribution center in the world with a single building area.

As a global semiconductor leader, Infineon achieved an annual revenue of over 15 billion euros ($17.14 billion) in 2024. It has ranked first in the global automotive semiconductor market for five years in a row and maintained a top spot in the global power semiconductor market for the past 21 years straight.

In 2014, Infineon established its first China logistics center in the Pudong Airport Free Trade Zone to manage the transportation and logistics of all inbound and outbound goods produced in China. Its overall operating area in the zone has now expanded nearly 20-fold.

According to Infineon, the government's efficient services have helped the company realize the leap from the project's conception to construction and strengthened its confidence in the zone.

As a gateway between Shanghai and the outside world, the Pudong Airport Free Trade Zone strives to strengthen its global resource allocation capabilities. Many pioneering projects, such as the country's first semiconductor cross-border e-commerce project, have been launched in the zone.

Data shows that the zone's imports reached 134.34 billion yuan ($18.63 billion) in 2024, with the average annual growth rate over the past three years hitting 24 percent. Imports and exports of integrated circuits within the area were valued at 57.76 billion yuan in 2024, nearly five times the 9.69 billion yuan in 2014.
