As part of the ongoing 2025 Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season, Pudong New Area will offer a range of exciting activities for residents and visitors.

A key focus will be on the booming ACGN (Anime, Comic, Game, and Novel) economy, a cornerstone of global pop culture.

From Aug 1 to 10, L+ Mall will host the inaugural Pudong Guzi Carnival, celebrating anime, comics, games, novels, and cosplay. The event will feature popular stores, vibrant markets, Japan's itasha car culture (where vehicles are adorned with anime, manga, or video game characters using high-quality vinyl wraps), live stage performances, and interactive games.

In parallel, the 22nd China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference, also known as ChinaJoy, will take place from Aug 1 to 4 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. To complement this, shopping centers such as Global Harbor and L+ Mall will offer shuttle buses, pop-up installations, cosplay activities, online giveaways, and exhibitions like Pop Mart's Zsiga Take It Slow.

From September to October, Pudong will partner with the China Toy Expo, which runs from Oct 15 to 17, to host themed pop-up activities across 10 shopping centers. The season will culminate with a major carnival at Century Park from Oct 15 to 18, featuring 15 major brands, including Pokemon, Doraemon, and Minions. This event will blend food, fashion, music, and immersive cultural experiences.

Iconic venues such as the Mercedes-Benz Arena and the Oriental Sports Center will host performances by stars such as Jacky Cheung and Wang Leehom. Additionally, renowned symphonic concerts, including Final Fantasy and Harry Potter, will also be held at the New Bund 31 Performing Arts Center.

To elevate the shopping and entertainment experience, Pudong will offer exclusive discounts for concert-goers, sports fans, and exhibition attendees, in collaboration with local malls and major venues.

To ensure visitors make the most of these activities, Pudong will integrate online and offline promotional resources. Event details and shopping guides will be shared on Chinese social media and e-commerce platforms like Xiaohongshu and Douyin, with influencers frequently recommending the best spots for shopping, dining, and entertainment in the area.

For international visitors, Pudong has introduced a special "refund upon purchase" service counter at the Shanghai No 1 Yaohan department store — one of only three venues in the city that accept citywide refund claims.
