Shanghai's Pudong New Area announced on May 13 that it would offer up to 1 million yuan ($140,000) in financial support for the hosting of major exhibitions in the district.
The incentive is part of a set of nine measures released by the district’s commission of commerce to promote the high-quality development of the exhibition economy.
According to the measures, Pudong will provide financial support of up to 1 million yuan for leading exhibitions, 600,000 yuan for high-quality exhibitions, and 300,000 yuan for innovative exhibitions.
At the same event, it was announced that three major exhibitions, the 2025 Organic Festa Asia, 2025 China International Financial Exhibition, and the 2025 Tomorrow City·Shanghai Expo, will make their debut in Pudong.
Pudong has also attracted two major international exhibition industry organizations: the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), both of which have established offices in the district.
Several renowned exhibition enterprises, including Messe Muenchen Shanghai Co Ltd, Shanghai Sinoexpo Informa Markets, and GL events (Shanghai) Co Ltd, have also set up their headquarters in Pudong.
In 2024, Pudong hosted a total of 217 economic and trade exhibitions, covering a combined exhibition area of 8.7 million square meters and attracting 133,000 exhibitors and eight million professional attendees.
Among them, 23 large-scale exhibitions exceeded 100,000 square meters each, including Furniture China, ChinaJoy and the Pet Fair Asia.
