Pudong sets ambitious goals for 2025

The fifth session of the seventh Pudong New Area People's Congress opened on Jan 8. The meeting was attended by over 400 delegates, with Wu Jincheng, deputy Party secretary and head of Pudong, delivering a government work report on behalf of the people's government.

In reviewing the work of 2024, Wu highlighted the district's achievements in stabilizing growth, deepening reform and opening-up, enhancing international resource allocation, accelerating the building of a modern industrial system, strengthening high-quality urban development, and improving community-level services. The district's GDP exceeded 1.73 trillion yuan ($238.82 billion), with industrial output valued at 1.32 trillion yuan and general public budget revenue reaching 130.87 billion yuan.

Looking ahead to 2025, Pudong aims to grow its GDP by over 5 percent, industrial added value by 3 percent, and general public budget revenue by 2 percent. Key strategies include fostering high-quality development, deepening reform and opening-up, strengthening scientific and technological innovation, enhancing urban vitality, promoting rural vitalization, advancing cultural development, strengthening environmental protection, and optimizing public services.

The report underscores Pudong's commitment to leading Shanghai's modernization and contributing to China's socialist modernization efforts.
