2024 Pudong High-quality Shipping Development Conference kicks off
The 2024 Pudong High-quality Shipping Development Conference kicked off on July 9, aiming to foster new momentum for the high-quality development of Pudong's shipping industry.
Key announcements included the release of Pudong's first Shipping Talent Development White Paper and the launch of a program to support overseas high-end shipping talent training, as well as the maiden voyage of the one-stop cargo water-to-water transfer ship that took place at Waigaoqiao Port.
The newly announced initiatives aim to address deficiencies in high-end shipping services and enhance global allocation capabilities.
The Shipping Talent Development White Paper highlighted that by the end of 2023, Pudong was home to 11,000 shipping enterprises and 231,000 shipping professionals. The area will continue to enhance its talent introduction system, focusing on cultivating leadership and innovation.
The program to support overseas high-end shipping talent training will involve international organizations like BIMCO to conduct international training projects in ship management in Denmark and high-end shipping services in Singapore. This effort aims to enhance local talent's global perspectives and promote their participation in international shipping governance.
The maiden voyage of the transfer ship aims to streamline the export process for key goods, reducing time and logistics costs.
During the conference, the Shanghai Maritime Bureau and the Pudong New Area People's Government signed a memorandum of cooperation to create a green, intelligent, and efficient shipping ecosystem.
Agreements for several high-quality shipping projects were signed, and new partnerships were formed, positioning Pudong as a core area for international shipping with upgraded capabilities and integrated high-end industries.
