Pudong Art Museum debuts inaugural photography showcase

Shanghai's Pudong Art Museum hosted its first photography exhibition, "Liu Heung Shing Lens · Times · People", on June 8. The retrospective features nearly 200 works by the Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, over half of which have never been displayed before.

Since the late 1970s, Liu has earned widespread acclaim with his unique perspective and rich experience, capturing the development of China's reform and opening-up era using a blend of Eastern and Western cultural backgrounds.

The exhibition on the museum's fourth floor is divided into seven sections and showcases historical events, portraits, and daily life of people from different countries and periods. This marks the first time Liu's work has expanded to a global perspective for Chinese audiences.

The exhibition presents images of celebrities from various fields, including artists Andy Warhol, Cai Guoqiang, and Ding Yi, film and television figures Zhang Yimou, Jiang Wen, and Zhou Xun, as well as prominent personalities such as Yo-Yo Ma, Zhong Acheng, and Fei Xiaotong. These images showcase Liu's keen observation of the different aspects of the celebrities' lives.

The exhibition, offering a visual feast capturing historical moments and blending Eastern and Western cultures, is set to open to the public for approximately two months, starting June 9.
