"China's Bright Food Group has a long-term vision for the development of Salov and supports the latter in becoming stronger and more competitive in the world at a steady pace," said Fabio Maccari, CEO of Italian olive oil maker Salov.
Both China and Italy are ancient civilizations, and the ancient Silk Road closely connects the two countries. More than 2,000 years of exchanges has fostered the common concept of mutual respect, learning, trust and understanding between the two countries, according to Fabio.
In 2014, China's Bright Food Group bought a majority stake in Salov in Italy, and in 2018, Fabio was hired as CEO of the olive oil maker. He has been in the olive oil industry for over 15 years, and has gained rich experience in olive oil processing.
Having working at Salov for nearly four years, Fabio deeply feels the fusion and interaction of Chinese and Italian cultures.
Led by Fabio, Salov has made great success in the olive oil industry. Official data show that by the end of 2021, the sales volume of Salov exceeded 119 million liters, and the net profit exceeded 10 million euros ($9.55 million), which makes Fabio very proud.
"In 2018, Bright Food Group needed an experienced general manager to develop and expand its olive oil investment program in Italy and finally, it found me," said Fabio. He was working at a large-scale group wine company in Italy at that time, and had 15 years of management experience in the olive oil industry. Fabio accepted the invitation from Bright Food without hesitation.
"I really love my job, and it is also a challenge to me," said Fabio.
"Olive oil is one of the most attractive food products in Italy and the Mediterranean region. Salov Group is now accelerating its pace in expanding the Chinese market, and I believe that more and more Chinese consumers will fall in love with the healthy food, which is particularly fulfilling," Fabio added.
"Bright Food Group shows great respect to us. In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, its headquarters expressed deep concern for all Salov employees, which moved us very much," he said.
