With the COVID-19 outbreaks in Shanghai having been basically contained, work and production in the city have gradually resumed in an orderly way, and Shanghai Customs continues to make every effort to strike a balance between the prevention and control of the epidemic at the city's ports and the promotion of the steady growth of foreign trade.

A wide range of measures were also released by local customs authorities, which are aimed at reducing customs clearance time, strengthening regional supply chain security and facilitating the movement of goods to aid the city's goal of resuming business and production, according to the city's customs authorities.

Shanghai is an important base for China's integrated circuit industry chain, and many key enterprises in the integrated circuit industry resumed operations this month. In order to ensure the smooth flow of chemical raw materials used in the integrated circuit sector, Shanghai Customs opened a green channel where all integrated circuit materials are inspected at a faster rate.

Shanghai is also China's largest import and export center for vehicles, accounting for about 70 percent of the country's automobile foreign trade. With more and more carmaker enterprises in Shanghai resuming work and production, the city's Lin-gang Special Area reported a stable growth rate in capacity utilization, and a growing number of vehicles have been rolling off the production line.

To maintain a secure and smooth flow of operations at ports, local customs authorities developed expedited lanes for border inspection for cargo ships carrying vehicles and provided electronic customs clearance.
