The second Lin-gang Special Area Semiconductor Industrial Development Summit was held on Sept 15.

The summit mainly discussed the development plan and direction of the semiconductor industry in Lin-gang.

During the summit, the Lin-gang Special Area Integrated Circuit Alliance signed a deal with the Sinan Semiconductor Super Accelerator to build a technological investment service platform.

The Lin-gang Special Area Integrated Circuit Alliance was established in September 2020. Focusing on IC design, manufacturing, packaging, and testing, the alliance attracts research institutions, manufacturing companies, equipment and instrument manufacturers, material manufacturers, as well as service consulting organizations of the IC industrial chain.

It aims to promote the establishment of a comprehensive IC industrial base in Lin-gang, as well as promote exchanges and boost innovation in the IC industry.

Since its establishment in 2019, Lin-gang Special Area has been home to more than 120 IC-related enterprises, with an investment scale of more than 150 billion yuan ($23.24 billion), according to Zhang Tong, director of the high-tech industry and technological innovation department of the management committee of Lin-gang Special Area.

Zhang said that enterprises in Lin-gang will focus on the development of large-scale domestic substitutions in large silicon wafers and polishing wafers. They will also strive to make breakthroughs in photoresists, lithography machines, and advanced manufacturing special processes.

The IC industrial scale in Lin-gang is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan by the end of 2025, added Zhang.
