The Pudong New Area in Shanghai will strengthen the inspection of infringement of online intellectual property rights and gather global IP services providers at a new hub port to better protect IPR of both domestic and foreign businesses, an official said on Nov 4.

The China (Pudong) Intellectual Property Protection Center is developing a platform to strengthen its capacity of inspecting online IPR infringements and achieving targeted IPR protection, said Zhang Jun, deputy director of the Pudong New Area Intellectual Property Administration.

Pudong unveiled an international IP hub port last month and will work to attract global quality resources in IP creation, protection, application and transaction into the hub, Zhang said.

All this is part of Pudong's continuous efforts to strengthen IPR protection and provide a better business environment for both domestic and foreign businesses, he said.

"We extend the same treatment to different entities, including overseas obligees, foreign businesses and private enterprises," Zhang said. "As long as the IPR infringement takes place in our jurisdiction, we will perform our duty."
