More enterprises established in Pudong from Jan - Aug
The number of newly-established enterprises in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai increased 32.8 percent year on year from January to August, local media reported on Sept 29.
During this period, actually-paid foreign investment rose 4.7 percent, and the total industrial output of enterprises with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.9 million) and above rose 7.3 percent. The output of emerging manufacturing industries rose 21.5 percent.
Statistics also show that fixed asset investment in the district increased 12.4 percent while industrial investment rose 22.4 percent.
Imports and exports also witnessed a slight increase of 0.9 percent during this period.
Officials said it is a result of great efforts that the local government has made to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
They also revealed that more measures will be taken to improve people's living standards, including building 670 elementary schools and introducing a number of large-scale elderly care institutions.
