World Association of Nuclear Operators opens office in Pudong
The World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) recently set up its Shanghai office in Shanghai Expo Area, Pudong New District.
WANO is an industrial organization made up of nuclear power plant operators dedicated to improving nuclear power technology and nuclear safety. It has been operating for 31 years and has members in 35 countries and regions.
The Shanghai office is the organization's fifth branch worldwide, following those in the United States, Russia, France and Japan. It will help promote the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and enhance China's role in the global nuclear power industry.
The Shanghai Expo Area is currently home to eight reputed international organizations, the other seven being the headquarters of the New Development Bank, the operations center of Asia Pacific Model E-port Network, and the Shanghai branches of the International Chamber of Commerce, the Global Association of Exhibition Industry, Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce, Logistics Alliance Germany and Korean Commercial Arbitration Board.
New Development Bank, the first international financial institution to set up operations in the expo area, is headquartered in the A zone and is expected to complete construction by the end of August this year. Upon completion, it will be the tallest building in the area.
Following the bank, more and more international organizations are choosing the area to expand their operations in China, bringing with them international resources to drive local development.
The area's administration will continue to improve the business environment and provide better services in order to attract more international organizations.
