Pudong strengthens NCP controls for street merchants
The Bureau of City Administration and Law Enforcement of Pudong New Area recently released nine new measures to strengthen the control of the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (NCP) among more than 40,000 street merchants.
The measures require merchants to keep a record of business operators' daily health conditions and focus on self-protection before and during operation.
Specifically, operators returning from Hubei province and other NCP-ravaged areas must keep themselves isolated at home for 14 days of medical observation before returning to work, while those returning from other places must stay at home for seven to 14 days. All operators should register their health information with the bureau. No live poultry can be brought in from outside the city.
Operators are required to wear face masks and tell customers to wear them as well. They should also monitor their temperature throughout the day and also take customers' temperatures if possible. Any emergency should be reported to local authorities.
Businesses should be disinfected at least two times a day.
In addition to the aforementioned measures, the bureau has also established an online platform on WeChat to collect information about merchants' health and a coordinated patrol mechanism for inspecting merchants.
Lastly, the bureau has divided Pudong into six sections and appointed an emergency response team for each section.
