Chinese e-commerce giant JD's artificial intelligence platform signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co Ltd on Aug 30 to jointly establish an AI innovation center.
Located in Lingang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the joint venture will be dedicated to creating a stable, healthy and comprehensive entrepreneurial services system in Shanghai's AI industry and provide services for local AI companies.
The center will serve as both an intelligent platform and a C2B, or customer-to-business, services platform to bring about cutting-edge AI technology and innovation -- as well as bring JD's practical experiences in industrial transformation to the city.
Officials said this would improve the urban management level and government services of the metropolis.
The center aims to build an entire industrial chain covering AI basic research, technology research and development and industrial development and application by attracting and incubating a large number of AI related companies.
In recent years JD Group has made great strides in the application of AI in many sectors -- including government services, retail, customer service and medical care. The group was also selected as a "National Open Innovation Platform for Next Generation Artificial Intelligence".
