Zhangjiang in Shanghai's Pudong New Area hosted a forum on Sept 27 to review development since the introduction of China's reform and opening up policy and to explore measures to contribute to Shanghai's further reform and opening up.

The forum was a joint effort of Zhangjiang Group and Pudong committee of China Zhi Gong Dang, one of the eight non-Communist parties of China that is composed of returned overseas Chinese, their relatives, and noted figures and scholars who have overseas ties.

It is expected to unite forces of overseas Chinese to promote the development of Shanghai, as well as the country.

Zhang Endi, head of the Shanghai Committee of China Zhi Gong Dang, emphasized that the organization will use its advantage to serve the country's opening up, and mentioned a recent task of increasing the overseas exposure of the soon-to-be-held China International Import Expo.

Yuan Tao, chairman of Zhangjiang Group, said that Zhangjiang is working on building a world-class science city and welcomed talented, returned overseas Chinese to start up businesses in the area, and promote local scientific and technological development.

An agreement to continue the cooperation between Zhangjiang Group and the Pudong committee of the political party was signed during the event, enabling them to share resources and unite forces to advance Pudong's and Shanghai's reform and opening up.

The forum, an annual event that started in 2008, has been dedicated to using the political party's advantages in talented personnel to serve Zhangjiang's small- and mid-sized enterprises.
