Czech Republic opens a pavilion in Shanghai FTZ

The Czech Republic opened a pavilion at the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Shanghai FTZ) on July 25 to introduce its culture, education, and industries, and to seek cooperation opportunities.

The pavilion is composed of exhibition areas for the country's tourism, cultural education, industrial technology, handicrafts, drinks, and specialty goods, as well as office space for its companies to discuss business in China, and a high-tech incubator to introduce its latest technology in auto manufacturing, electronic equipment manufacturing, and environmental protection and energy conservation.

The pavilion also features exhibition areas from the globally known Czech auto company Skoda, the country's largest equipment and components provider ZDAS, piano brand Petrof, upmarket crystal brand Moser, and sportswear brand Alpine Pro.

At the opening ceremony, the pavilion also reached cooperation deals in a wide range of fields with various Chinese institutions, such as online travel agency Ctrip, online wholesale market 1688.com, Shanghai Expert Committee of Imported Food, and the Department of Music of East China Normal University. 

The Czech Republic is an important country for China's Belt and Road Initiative. In 2017, the bilateral trade volume between China and the Czech Republic reached $12.49 billion, up by 13.4 percent year-on-year.

This new pavilion in Shanghai FTZ is considered important to attempts to strengthen economic, trade, cultural, technological, and educational cooperation between the two countries.
