Pudong sets out to create first-class business environment

A meeting was held at Shanghai Hall of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on March 6 to discuss Shanghai's development plans.

Hang Yingwei, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai municipal government and the head of Pudong New Area, said that Shanghai is to further reform and development, specifically to create an environment favorable to business.
He pointed out that one of the effective ways to do that is to simplify the application procedures. For example, 95 percent of the carriages of goods can come into Shanghai by sea and 95 percent of the air cargoes can come into Shanghai within 12 hours. The duration for obtaining the working permission will also be shortened.
He concluded that these measures are made according to the international standard and in the next stage Shanghai will invigorate the market, better allocate its resources and enhance its international competitiveness.
