An awarding ceremony was held in Pudong on Jan 19 in honor of the distinguished personages in the shipping industry.

The top 100 Chinese shipping talents were initially announced in December, 2014, which received great attention from traffic agencies, professionals in the shipping industry, authoritative media and markets.

This year's top 100 personages were selected after going through a procedure where the committee of China's top 100 shipping talents and the news agency of shipping industry collected and studied the Chinese and foreign news on the important events that had occurred in the shipping industry.

Huang Youfang, president of Shanghai Maritime University, said that the top 100 talents played an active role in leading the development of the shipping industry and has greatly contributed to China's shipping industry.

At the awarding ceremony, Zhang Ye, president of Shanghai Shipping Exchange delivered a speech on the challenges the shipping industry faces in the new age and asserted that in this age, four types of shipping talents are highly needed, that is innovative talents, technical talents, comprehensive talents and management talents.

Zhou Shihao, CEO of YunQuNa made a speech on how the Internet boosts the upgrade of foreign trade. In his opinion, the delivery in the logistics contains three features, which are efficiency of transportation, standard of delivery and the remains of data of delivery.

The awarding ceremony is also a part of the closing ceremony of Lujiazui's shipping festival which draws upon its previous successful events held in London, Singapore and Hongkong. This year's participants are primarily from world renowned shipping enterprises, with over 1500 participants, with an increase of 50 percent.

Ren Kaifeng, deputy director general of Lujiazui Authority, said that Lujiazui boasts the nation's most comprehensive financial system. Over 1,200 shipping-related enterprises have been founded here and 90 percent of them are professional service institutes. Moreover, a complete transportation service system, shipping finance system and law system have also been formed, all boosting the overall competitiveness of Lujiazui.
