Fudan University launches a scientific base
Fudan University signed an agreement with Lingang Management Committee and Lingang Group on Jan 13, in building Fudan University Engineering and Applied Technology Research Institute.
The research institute is supported by government, universities and enterprises and it will push forward the scientific innovation and industrialize the research products.
Through collaborating with Chinese Academy of Sciences and China's leading enterprises, the new institute will promote interdisciplinary cooperation to advance the industry development of engineering and applied technologies. It will make Lingang a worldly influential center of technology innovation and boost the upgrading of Lingang’s industries.
Jiao Yang, secretary of the party committee of Fudan University, said that the new institute is one of the national strategies and one of its functions is to deepen the cooperation of universities and enterprises and boost scientific innovations and industrialization. Fudan University will be focused on building an interdisciplinary platform where different majors will develop together, where technologies are industrialized; and bigger projects and talents are nurtured.
Meanwhile, Lingang will also support the development of the institute. Lingang boasts a cluster of industries and institutes and will collaborate with Fudan University in industrializing Fudan's research products.
The agreement also includes the launching of 10 major projects, including two-arm robots for policing, intelligent computer chips and robots for chaperonage.
At present, Fudan has initiated research institutes of intelligent robots, biomedical engineering, and illumination. The research area includes the intelligent computing and control of robots, hardware and operating system of robots, the systematic structure and system integration of intelligent robots, ultraprecise movement and intelligent control, medical treatment and health, semiconductor and biomedical engineering.
