It has been 40 years since British Petroleum (BP) company entered China, and BP has been an essential part in each aspect of China's petroleum industry chain, according to a news report published on Pudong website on Jan 4.                                     

In 2013, BP set its headquarter in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, considering Pudong and Shanghai boasts a favorable environment for business and is equipped with adequate infrastructure, sound living environment and rich resources of international talents.

As one of the giants of global energy, the global headquarter of BP is situated in London. At present, more than 70 countries have gotten involved in BP's businesses around the globe.

BP has developed itself into a leading foreign-invested enterprise in China. For example, BP is the only foreign cooperative partner in China's industry of liquefied natural gas. It has been providing aircraft fuel for 23 of China’s airports. It has established 800 joint venture gas stations in Guangdong and Zhejiang.

In 2004, BP formed cooperative relationship with China National Offshore Oil Corporation and ever since the two parties have carried out a series of programs including terminal and artery.

In the field of retail, BP has worked with China National Petroleum Corporation in co-founding a petroleum company, which also received support from Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. As one of its products, over 400 petrol stations have been built in Guangdong and over 300 petrol stations have been built in Zhejiang.

BP has also been providing petroleum for China's aviation industry, especially for the airports in South and Central China.

Moreover, BP has joined the development of China's industry of chemical engineering and set two joint venture enterprises of acetic acid.

In addition, BP has founded a technological center in China, aiming to offer lubrication technology and relevant development plans for China's industry of automobile, aviation, shipping and industrial engineering.

As for the future development route, BP will take more efforts to developing renewable energy resources in China to tackle the challenges of climate change. For example, BP will invest more in developing the technology of combined heat and power generation, offshore wind power and digitalized energy sources.
