Shendi Art Committee set up in Shanghai’s tourism resort zone
Shendi Art Committee was established in Shanghai International Tourism and Resort Zone on Dec 21, with the purpose of bringing more high-level cultural activities to the local area.
The committee incorporates several famous artists such as Teng Junjie, a famous film director, Ge Qiantao, an art curator, Huang Doudou, a dancer, and Tan Yuanyuan, a ballet dancer. Tan Dun, a well-known artist, was elected as the chairman of the committee.
The resort zone has enjoyed great popularity among Shanghai citizens since its foundation. At its centerpiece is the hugely successful Shanghai Disney Resort, which saw over 11 million visitors in its first year of operation.
Next year, a series of art performances will be staged in the resort zone. For example, there will be a concert in commemoration of Debussy, performed by Monte Carlo's Philharmonic Orchestra. Maxim Vengerov will greet the audience.
The committee will be dedicated to the development of tourism and public benefit activities. It will hold various activities, such as an international travel festival, a music event and an international summer camp.
In the resort zone, tourists can not only feast on the artists' new creations and performances, but also take part in a series of activities, such as dancing, singing, literature writing, theatre and visual art.
Tan Dun said that the Shanghai International Tourism and Resort Zone now boasts China's top-level facilities and in the future it will try to recruit more globally renowned artists in the fields of art, theatre, music, visual art and design to perform there. And he also hopes to introduce China’s culture to the whole world through this place.
