As a vital transportation hub in Shanghai, Pudong is home to three international air and sea ports. The Shanghai Port, consisting Waigaoqiao Port and Yangshan Deepwater Port, is the world’s largest port. The Pudong International Airport ranks among the world’s top 3 busiest airports by mail and cargo traffic.
A network of four bridges and 12 tunnels spanning the Huangpu River has been developed in Pudong, including the Nanpu Bridge, the Yangpu Bridge, the Xupu Bridge, the Lupu Bridge, and the Dapu Road Tunnel, the East Yan’an Road Tunnel, the Fuxing Road Tunnel and the Renmin Road Tunnel and several others. It is also served by an integrated transport system consisting eight enclosed overhead lines and freeways, such as Inner Ring and Outer Ring, and 12 metro and maglev lines.
