The Shanghai Maritime Safety Bureau has launched several new measures to accelerate the high-quality development of the shipping industry in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The measures focus on enhancing shipping services, reducing logistics costs, fostering innovation, and strengthening policy support.

Key measures include creating a "maritime + finance + insurance" safety service chain and expanding the use of digital technologies, such as blockchain, to improve logistics efficiency.

The bureau highlights leveraging Pudong New Area's legislative authority for maritime innovation. It will support the development of intelligent shipping and green energy projects, such as Shanghai's green fuel refueling center.

The bureau is committed to turning these policies into practical actions and to building a robust support system for the shipping industry's growth in the free trade zone.

Recent successes benefiting from the new measures include the first export of a large hydrogen storage device from Waigaoqiao Port, facilitated by expert guidance and streamlined government services. This marks a significant step in supporting the global expansion of the hydrogen energy sector.

Additionally, a new automated approval system for dangerous goods, powered by blockchain technology, is being piloted, enabling faster processing for companies such as battery maker CATL.
