The Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone, which borders Shanghai Pudong International Airport to the east and Shanghai East Railway Station to the south, hosted its first major international business event last month, setting new standards for smooth, efficient global business travel.
The event, QuidelOrtho's 2026 Asia-Pacific Annual Conference, welcomed around 900 attendees, including over 400 international employees from 11 countries. Participants enjoyed a seamless travel experience thanks to the zone's innovative entry procedures.
Bryan Hanson, a senior executive at QuidelOrtho, a leading in vitro diagnostics company, praised the zone's efficiency. "From landing to hotel check-in took just 25 minutes. The facilities and processes here are truly world-class," he said. Hanson also highlighted the excellent accommodations and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for global business collaboration.

Foreign attendees could easily enter the zone by registering online 48 hours in advance, using only an invitation and a passport, without needing a Chinese visa. This streamlined process, along with simplified customs checks for personal belongings, saved time and effort.
Lee Bowman, chief HR officer at QuidelOrtho, praised the convenience, saying, "Bringing together people from various countries is much easier here due to the smooth entry and exit process."
The zone offers comprehensive services for international travelers, including multilingual support, overseas payment options, and tax refund services. Medical services meeting international standards are also available.
For departures, the zone offers an on-site check-in service, allowing participants to complete all exit procedures within the zone and ensuring a hassle-free journey from check-in to boarding.
The Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone is not just a venue for business events but also a platform for showcasing new products. At the conference, QuidelOrtho introduced several new products, including one developed in China, which attracted international interest.
Looking ahead, QuidelOrtho plans to establish a China Training Center in the zone, leveraging local expertise.
The zone is also expanding, with new facilities under construction to enhance exhibition, technology, and innovation capabilities, including a global medical device center.
As the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone continues to attract global resources and high-end business activities, it is set to become a leading platform for international business exchange and cooperation.
