Shanghai Customs facilitates full coverage of bonded LNG bunkering at Shanghai Port
Shanghai Customs has achieved a significant milestone by enabling the full coverage of bonded liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering services across Shanghai Port, marking a leap forward in green shipping initiatives.
On March 26, under the efficient supervision of Shanghai Customs, the LNG bunkering vessel Huaihe Nengyuan Qihang successfully transferred 2,434.2 cubic meters of bonded LNG from a storage facility on Xiaoyangshan Island to the car carrier Wenjingkou at Waigaoqiao Haitong Terminal. This operation marked the first time LNG bunkering services were extended from Yangshan Port to Waigaoqiao Port, broadening the accessibility of clean fuels for international vessels.

Since Shanghai Port initiated its first bonded LNG bunkering operation in 2022, it has rapidly become a leading global hub for this service. Shanghai Customs has played a pivotal role by establishing a cross-regional, cross-departmental coordination mechanism, optimizing regulatory processes, and ensuring seamless operations.
The expansion of LNG bunkering services to Waigaoqiao Port not only enhances Shanghai Port's competitiveness but also significantly contributes to the city's green transformation goals in international shipping.
