Shanghai launches 8 projects worth 1.8t yuan
Eight projects with a combined investment of 1.8 trillion yuan ($2493 billion) were launched in Shanghai on Sept 20 at the summing-up meeting for the city's investment promotion season.
The projects are revolved around transportation network, offshore wind power, round-the-city park belt, affordable housing, renovation of old residential areas and the safety of drinking water, and are expected to upgrade the city's functions, layout, and boost its long-term development.
The Chaoyong Pujiang Investment Promotion Season, which ran from mid-June to mid-September, was part of Shanghai's efforts to accelerate the economic recovery and enhance the city's core competitiveness.
Ten major activities focusing on distinctive themes such as headquarters economy, infrastructure construction, cooperation with key State-owned enterprises and partnerships between banks and enterprises were held, along with more than 50 sub-events that promoted districts' business environment and projects.
A total of 597 project deals with a combined investment of 941 billion yuan were signed, while construction of 296 major projects worth a total of 602.9 billion yuan started.
The investment promotion season drove Shanghai's fixed-asset investment in July and August by 8.7 percent and 9.9 percent year-on-year, respectively.
