Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Group Co recently announced that, by the middle of July, it had attracted 20 projects for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE), which is slated to be held in November in Shanghai.
Covering an area of 2,816 square meters, these projects mainly focus on medical equipment and healthcare, high-quality life, high-end consumer goods, and science and technology products.
Having witnessed the great business opportunities in the Chinese market in the first CIIE last year, a Canadian duvet and pillow manufacturer company signed up for an 81-square-meter exhibition area in high-end consumer goods this year, and established a foreign trade company in Waigaoqiao, hoping to introduce more quality Canadian products to China.
As the first state-level import-export trade promotion and innovation demonstration area, Waigaoqiao Bonded Area has become the first choice for overseas products wishing to enter into the Chinese market.
In addition to the high-end consumer goods industry, which hopes to broaden sales channels in China through the Waigaoqiao trading platform, high-end technology industries such as intelligent manufacturing have also picked up momentum in the area.
The Shanghai Waigaoqiao International Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park, covering an area of 100,000 square meters, has gathered more than 150 multinational machine tool enterprises from more than 10 countries and regions across the world.
There are now enterprises and commodities that made it to the domestic market through high-end manufacturing and other trading platforms by Waigaoqiao after the first CIIE, said Liu Hong, chairman of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Group Co.
He added that moving forward, Waigaoqiao will continue to serve worldwide exhibitors and make it easier for overseas companies to enter into the Chinese market.
