The Zhangjiang National Integrated Circuit (IC) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base was officially put into operation in Zhangjiang Science City, Pudong New Area of Shanghai, local media reported on June 18.
With a focus on internet of things, automotive electronics and artificial intelligence, the base will leverage its resources to cultivate a group of quality startups and bolster the development of IC industries in Shanghai and the country as a whole.
A total of eight companies signed on to cooperate with the base at the launching ceremony.
The Shanghai Integrated Circuit Design Industrial Park, which was unveiled last year, is an important part of the innovation and entrepreneurship base. It is striving to attract overseas leading enterprises and achieve an industrial scale that exceeds 100 billion yuan ($14.59 billion) by 2025. The park focuses on key applications such as artificial intelligence, 5G, internet of things, industrial control, and automotive electronics.
It is expected that within three years, the new base will gather and cultivate 50 innovative startups specializing in semiconductors and a number of other sectors.
The base is co-developed by the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Technology & Industry Promotion Center and Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park.
