A Japanese exhibition hall opened in the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub in Shanghai, on April 12 with support from Shanghai Waigaoqiao International Trading Operating Center Co, a subsidiary of Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in Pudong New Area.

With over 500 different Japanese consumer products in 10 categories, including household appliances, kitchen utensils, and beauty and makeup products, the Japanese exhibition hall is the fourth overseas pavilion in the trading hub after Malaysia, Colombia, and Ecuador.

It is reported that the first batch of Japanese goods landed at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port at 13:30 pm on April 10.

To ensure the successful opening of the exhibition hall, Waigaoqiao Operation Center, together with customs authorities, sped up procedures and reduced the required time to set up the exhibits to 26 hours.

The center will further facilitate trade, explore remote electronic supervision methods and optimize the business environment to better serve the China International Import Expo (CIIE), according to the Waigaoqiao Operation Center.

Last November, Shanghai conglomerate Greenland Group established the Global Commodity Trade Hub as a year-round trade service platform for the CIIE.

Covering more than 400,000 square meters, the trade hub can serve as a home to corporate headquarters and provides smart logistics services as well as an online trade platform. It housed 112 enterprises and organizations from 41 countries as of November 2018.
