The block is located in the core area of Zhangjiang central district, adjacent to the sub-center of Zhangjiang and Zhangjiang Future Park, both of which are under construction.

The project consists of 18 buildings, which are being developed in two phases. The first phase has been completed and some well-known medical enterprises have already settled there. The second phase is divided into three blocks and will be completed in June 2019.

Zhangjiang High-tech Park established the "Medicine Valley" in the early 1990s. With biological medicine as its leading industry, it introduced a large number of renowned enterprises from home and abroad in fields, including biological medicine R&D, diagnostic reagent and medical equipment.

To further develop the health industry, the park has built the Shanghai International Biomedical Park, and has created a "Medical Valley", which has aimed to develop the high-end medical service cluster, the high-tech medical equipment and the biomedical industry base since 2003.

In order to build a big health industrial cluster and complete the medical and health industrial chain, Zhangjiang High-tech Park still needs to develop health and medical service platforms.

Moreover, the planned area of Zhangjiang High-tech Park will be expanded to 94 square kilometers, with a planned resident population of 700,000 and providing about 880,000 jobs. With the area and large population, various supporting facilities related to people's livelihood will also need to be improved.

The Shanghai International Health Block is expected to meet the medical needs of the region.
