Pudong Airport achieves seamless international cargo transfer
Recently, a batch of 1.6 metric tons of international transfer cargo, consisting of laptops, was smoothly transported from Hanoi, Vietnam, to Shanghai Pudong International Airport via China Southern Airlines Flight CZ5236.
Within just over 20 hours, the cargo seamlessly transitioned to UPS Flight 5X083, heading to Anchorage, the United States. This achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of customs and other port authorities, ensuring the smooth entry and exit of such international transfer cargo involving multiple airlines and regulatory regions.

On March 30 this year, China's first international mid-route trans-shipping operation was successfully trialed at Pudong International Airport, marking a significant breakthrough in international air cargo transfer modes.
According to Gu Jiajie, a representative from Tianjin Fanyi International Freight Forwarding Service Co Ltd Shanghai branch, this new mode allows for better utilization of Pudong Airport's dual cargo terminal flight resources, offering more flexible route and flight options while reducing transportation costs.
In the first seven months this year, Pudong International Airport handled 13,368 tons of international transfer cargo, up 130 percent year-on-year. To further enhance international transfer services, the airport, in collaboration with customs, airlines, freight forwarders, and ground handlers, has optimized processes and streamlined customs supervision, reducing the overall operation time to within 24 hours.
Looking ahead, customs will continue to expand international transfer applications, strengthen supervision, and improve services to enrich Pudong Airport's transit functions and elevate its status as a global cargo hub.
