Shanghai pioneers departure tax rebate for cross-border e-commerce
Shanghai has made significant strides in facilitating cross-border e-commerce by piloting a departure tax rebate policy for exports to overseas warehouses. This initiative, guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Shanghai Municipal Tax Service of the State Taxation Administration, has seen remarkable success since its implementation.
Through an integrated overseas warehouse service platform, participating enterprises in the districts of Pudong, Minhang, Fengxian, and Qingpu have completed nearly 200 tax rebate applications for customs declarations. One Pudong-based company received a tax rebate of over 2 million yuan ($275,378) within 2 to 3 working days, significantly alleviating financial pressures and boosting confidence for the company.
The policy's efficiency can be attributed to streamlined processes, simplified procedures, and enhanced services, enabling rapid tax refund approvals. The platform continues to collect critical information on export customs clearance, overseas sales, and international logistics, forming a closed-loop transaction chain to support tax refund calculations.
This initiative not only exemplifies Shanghai's effective policy execution and innovation but also marks a new milestone in cross-border e-commerce tax refund services. It is expected to further propel the growth of Shanghai's cross-border e-commerce exports to overseas warehouses.
Looking ahead, Shanghai aims to refine the platform's functionalities and optimize the tax rebate process, providing even more efficient and convenient services to cross-border e-commerce enterprises.
