China (Shanghai) International Trade Single Window celebrates 10 years of streamlining trade processes
Since its inception in 2014, the China (Shanghai) International Trade Single Window has contributed to trade facilitation reform and served as a digital foundation for optimizing the business environment in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
With integration into 22 departments, it covers functions from "customs clearance + logistics" to "foreign trade + finance" and "regulation + services" and has been widely adopted by over 700,000 businesses.
The "single window" emphasizes the core principle of "one platform, one submission, feedback on results, and data sharing", significantly reducing costs for enterprises and enhancing trade facilitation levels.
In 2019, the reform measure contributed to China's leap in the World Bank report Ease of Doing Business ranking from 97th to 65th place. By 2020, this ranking further improved to 56th place. The World Bank's Doing Business 2019 report specifically highlighted that the implementation of the measure in Shanghai and other areas effectively enhanced port clearance efficiency and transparency, reducing time and costs for cross-border trade.
Following its pilot implementation in the Shanghai FTZ, the "single window" has expanded across all ports in Shanghai and replicated nationwide, establishing Shanghai as a benchmark for similar programs.
In recent years, the "single window" has leveraged scenarios and user demands to continually enhance its digital and intelligent application levels. For instance, in goods declaration, the intelligent pre-booking declaration function assists enterprises in automatically collecting and comparing external logistics information, enabling automatic declaration at the predetermined time set by the enterprise and facilitating 24/7 real-time declaration operations.
