Avantor sets up Chinese headquarters in Pudong's Qiantan area
The China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone has welcomed another prominent addition to its burgeoning life sciences ecosystem, with Avantor officially inaugurating its Chinese headquarters in Pudong New Area's Qiantan area in Shanghai. This milestone marks a significant step forward for the company in strengthening its presence in China.
Avantor, a Fortune 500 company based in the United States, is renowned for providing critical products and services to customers in areas such as biopharmaceuticals, healthcare, education, research institutions, advanced technologies, and applied materials industries. With a diverse product portfolio exceeding 6 million items, Avantor caters to the diverse needs of clients worldwide.
Since entering the Chinese market in 2009, Avantor has consistently strengthened its investments and strategic layout in the country. "China is one of the most important and promising markets for Avantor," said Janny Wang, global vice-president and China general manager of Avantor.

Qiantan area is rapidly emerging as a vibrant biopharma hub, attracting leading foreign life sciences enterprises such as Medtronic, BD, Roche Diagnostics, Novo Nordisk, Takeda, Merck, Bayer, and Siemens Healthineers. Currently, nearly one-third of the 330 tenants in Qiantan are engaged in the life sciences sector.
