The highlight of the night came when No 5-ranked Chinese bantamweight Song Yadong knocked out No 3-ranked Umar Nurmagomedov from Russia in the second round. Song landed a powerful punch after timing his opponent's movement and followed with ground strikes before the referee stopped the fight.
The event featured 12 Chinese fighters alongside competitors from Russia, Brazil, the United States, Italy and Peru. Chinese stars Zhang Weili, Li Jingliang, and Zhang Mingyang, as well as international stars including Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jon Jones, were also in attendance to watch the action.
Ticketing data showed that spectators aged 18 to 34 accounted for 65 percent of the audience, while 92.5 percent of Fight Night attendees came from outside Shanghai. The event also linked ticket holders with discounts at nearby restaurants, retailers and leisure venues, extending the event's impact into local consumption.
The attendance record highlights Shanghai's appeal as a destination for major international sporting events and the role such events can play in connecting sports with tourism and commerce.
