Shanghai Disney Resort marked its 10th anniversary on June 15, welcoming more than 100 million guests over the past decade. On the same day, the resort announced major expansion plans, including the completion of track work for its upcoming Spider-Man-themed land and the planned opening of its third hotel this winter.

Blending classic Disney storytelling with distinctive Chinese aesthetics, the resort incorporates elements such as golden peonies, jade magnolias, and cloud motifs across the Enchanted Storybook Castle. Within Disney town, zodiac gardens and shikumen-inspired architecture further reflect a fusion of Sino-Western cultural design, while Pudong and Haipai influences extend throughout the wider resort environment.

The surrounding Qizao village has developed diversified rural tourism initiatives in parallel with the resort's growth, while a farm-to-table partnership established in 2023 now supplies locally grown produce, including Nanhui peaches, to resort dining venues.

International visitor numbers continue to rise, supported by streamlined entry policies. Many overseas tourists now combine weekend visits to Shanghai Disney with trips to nearby city landmarks, contributing to what scholars describe as a key node in the Yangtze River Delta's one-hour leisure network.

Multiple development projects are progressing steadily, including additional hotels, an expanded Soarin' attraction, the Spider-Man-themed zone, and residential facilities for frontline performers aimed at enhancing both guest experience and staff members wellbeing.

Industry experts note that the resort has helped pioneer new urban leisure models that integrate family entertainment with seasonal celebrations. Its anniversary slogan, "Magic Together," reflects its enduring role in shaping Shanghai's ambition to become a world-class tourism destination.
