First national-level embodied intelligence pilot lands in Pudong
China's first national-level standardization pilot project in embodied intelligence was announced on the official website of the National Standardization Administration on Sept 22, led by the National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center, which was established in Shanghai's Pudong New Area in late 2023.

Operating on a "1+N" model, the pilot project will use the National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center as its main training ground and be supported by sub-centers nationwide. The project will work with Shanghai Electric, Zhangjiang Group, Huawei, and other partners to develop an embodied intelligence ecosystem featuring joint research on standards, testing and verification, and shared infrastructure.
Over 80 standards will be developed across physical training facilities, virtual training environments, robotics components, and application scenarios. By 2025, 150,000 hours of high-quality real-robot data are expected to be collected, with annual production capacity exceeding 1 million hours.
The initiative is more than just a milestone for the center; it marks a critical moment for China's embodied intelligence industry as it transitions from individual innovations to coordinated development.
