Shanghai Pudong International Airport has successfully trialed its first international mid-route "trans-shipping" operation, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of international air cargo transfers.

This innovation allows goods to be transferred between different airlines and flights at Pudong Airport, seamlessly changing shipping documents mid-route.

During the trial, a shipment of electronic goods originating from Bangkok, Thailand, was transferred to a different airline's flight bound for the United States at Pudong Airport. The process involved close coordination between the airport, customs, and the airlines, ensuring the smooth exchange of shipping documents and efficient handling of the cargo.

This new mode of operation overcomes the limitations of previous "single-airline, single-waybill" transfers, offering customers more flexibility in route selection, carrier choice, and cost control. The successful trial not only demonstrates Pudong Airport's advanced logistics capabilities but also sets a new benchmark for international air cargo transfers globally.

With this breakthrough, Pudong Airport is poised to further strengthen its position as a leading international aviation hub, driving trade facilitation and economic growth in the region.
