GOTC kicks off in Shanghai

The 2023 Global Open-source Technology Conference (GOTC) was held at the Zhangjiang Science Hall in Pudong New Area on May 27. Participants engaged in discussions about topics such as open source, AIGC, and supply chain security.

Open source technology is presently a new model for global collaborative innovation and a powerful driving force for the development of information technology. OSChina, one of the organizers of the conference, has made many attempts to promote the development of open source tech in China in the past two years. Its efforts include building the world's second largest code hosting platform that has over 10 million registered developers.

At the conference, the Shanghai Pudong Software Park announced a strategic cooperation deal with OSChina that would see both parties build an ecosystem for the open source industry in Shanghai.

Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, said at the conference that open source tech has become the key to technological innovation, and introduced some new open source projects that are playing an important role in fields including artificial intelligence, the Internet, automobile, film and television industry and energy.

Zhangjiang Group said it has been focusing on developing innovative policy functions and promoting the agglomeration and development of innovative industries in recent years. The group added that it is committed to creating an open, shared, and collaborative technology ecosystem.
